I GET IT!
The book of Isaiah is filled with sinful Israelites, foreign invaders, visions of God, threats of judgment, promises of salvation and prophecies of a king who will come in the last days. But who’s talking? And who are they talking to? Are they talking about the past or now or the future? And what does any of this have to do with me?? It’s so easy to get lost and miss what the book is really about!
DID YOU KNOW?
Jesus and the New Testament authors read the book as a story about the Savior King who would come and bring good news to all the nations.
Isaiah’s message was so important that they quoted it in the New Testament more than every other book except the Psalms.
Isaiah’s message is so “New Testament-ish” that some in the early church even called it the “fifth Gospel.”
If you’re not sure how such a confusing book could be so important to the story and meaning of the New Testament…
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one!
